Who we are...
Linda Dalton
Linda Dalton is a very experienced, determined, lawyer who has dealt with a huge range of legal issues. She has wanted to be a lawyer since she could first string an argument together at age 3 and after 30 years working as a solicitor, continues to think it's the best job you can have. You solve problems and get paid to think, you meet interesting people and hear extraordinary stories - it doesn’t get much better than that. Despite the cynicism that abounds, she continues to see the law as a valuable resource for making people's lives easier and protecting the vulnerable. Linda worked for the past 23 years as a solicitor at Carty & Cox in Bellingen and in July 2022 established Bellingen Law. She was one of the first Accredited Specialists in Family Law on the Mid North Coast and is still the only one based full time in Bellingen. Apart from Family Law she has a keen interest in wills and estates work and enjoys the diverse and sometimes quirky legal problems of a general country firm. Prior to working in Bello, she worked with Community Legal Centres, Legal Aid NSW and with Catherine McKimm & Associates in Coffs Harbour. She's aware of the toll that legal proceedings can take. If your surname isn't Musk or Packer you really don’t want to litigate. Linda is a strong advocate whose focus is on solving problems without the need for court proceedings if at all possible. This is achieved by giving realistic advice at the outset, looking at the long term impact of decisions, thinking laterally, negotiating and taking into account non-financial as well as financial considerations. Linda has an excellent reputation as both a lawyer and an active citizen who contributes much to the community.
Interested in all aspects of human relationships, Linda is also a qualified mediator and a celebrant who regularly conducts weddings and funerals. The aim is to provide a cradle to grave service!

She has raised 3 children and has lived on a small community in the Kalang Valley for 27 years which she loves, despite the recurring and protracted conversations about pumps and lawnmowers, and plans never to leave.
